30 minute documentary / Screening with DAV and Panel Discussion
There are over 333 million people living in the United States. Fewer than 1% of Americans serve in the military. Of that 1%, about 10% have seen combat, perhaps only once. Meanwhile, the VA estimates between 11% and 20% of veterans have PTSD.
When I decided to document my personal journey as a veteran with PTSD, I knew I had to break out of the notion that I just one statistic among the rest. I didn’t know what was on the other side of this venture, but I knew I had to start. I committed to the process of self-discovery and to challenging my inner dialogue along the way. Post-Trauma is the result.
Don’t be afraid to swim out into the deep. You may be surprised what you find.
After the launch, I helped spearhead an event working closely with Craig McKee over at WCPO 9 News and Rob Lewis and the team at the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), showing 2 documentaries, Post Trauma, and a short snippet of Here.Is.Better. Each detailing in their own ways, how to live and address PTSD head on.
Panels and Q&A’s followed with representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Save A Warrior®, and Operation Honor.
